This is fairly simple. Most of you must know it, but let this be for the ones who don’t.

Guys each browser has its own user agent. The user agent is set to a particular value as default, like the user agent of firefox is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv: Gecko/2009011913 Firefox/3.0.6.

Some websites need to check what browser are you using to display web pages correctly, because each browser has different ways of reading and displaying HTML, CSS, PHP, etc. This happens especially in Mozilla add-ons website. If you are using Firefox while surfing that site, the will display “Add to Firefox” to install an add-on, it won’t download it. But if its other browser, then it will display “Download” and you can save it on your local hard drive.

Microsoft Update also checks whether you are using IE or not while updating. This might annoys many of us.

Here is the way to tackle this problem and run update in Firefox:

1. Use this add-on. Its called IE Tab. There is an option in the context menu when you right-click, which says “View this page in IE Tab”. Open windows update site in firefox and just right-click and click on this option. Your work is done.
